(sorry...replying to myself)

but just listening to this again right now....the 1971 hard to handle i linked above is, like many versions of this number....

some of the gunslingingest, motherfuckinest, kick your blues to the corner badass (blues) guitar shredding you could ever ask for...absolutely as many blue notes in a jam as you could ever want...and just dripping with deep earthy soul....

SNORI......john mayall?....are you kidding me.....(oh i feel weak just thinking about the uninventive boredom mr mayall invokes....and you.....john mayall?...that hurts my little deadhead brain....must go now)

word acetboy...

i was not looking to bash mayall...i just found the whole idea CRRRRAAAAZY

it is something about "The Blues"...people get an idea in their head that to me is very R I G I D.... i.e. "this is how the blues GO".....this is who plays the blues, and thus "this guy is not really a blues player"....whatever, it is so boring and such a limited view. it's like a jazz guy, or a metal head, a deadhead, a bluegrasshead, and honestly it seems, worst of all the blues guys -- some people are really locked into one perspective to such a degree they do not even appreciate the full breath of what they uphold as worthy of their time...what is meant is "i want to listen to the blues, but i am listening to playin in the band and it is not bluesey, this guitatist is not a great blues player, he's too....happy?"........aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh

trying to say jerry "was too happy to play the blues" -- i mean this is just a statement of no value i can perceive...could miles davis play the blues? i mean he was a jazz cat right?...come on this is just dumb

the links i put up (which was not hard....you could sit here all night citing cases of the dead/jerry "playin in the blues" about as straight as you can play 'em) are just the most easy to look places....i mean every single lovelight is just riddled with miles and miles of blues riffs, i dont get it....OF COURSE he's not playing "The Blues"...he's playing grateful dead music....AM i on the right forum here???

if snori is after cases of "The Blues" ...that is what i linked....

IT IS TRUE: jerry was not a "The Blues" player....but that;s what makes him Jerry and the dead the dead....

HAHAHAH - It is pretty funny about the strict catagories - never really saw the world in that fashion. I'm a blury lines sort of person, maybe because I need a pretty strong perscription to see anything clearly!!!
